The A.skate Foundation is an organization that allows children with autism to be a part of the social world through skateboarding. They hold clinics for children with autism at no cost to the families, give grants to children with autism for skateboard gear, as well as promote awareness and educate families about the skateboard industry.

Amigo Skate
Their goal is to provide young people with an outlet for self-expression. An essential part of what they do is collecting unwanted or broken equipment. Over the years, they have gathered a variety of action sports gear, music instruments, art supplies, and, of course, skating goods. They refurbish, rebuild, and recycle materials like used decks, wheels, hardware, grip tape, and trucks. Then, they give those back to skaters and artists wherever and whenever we see a need.

Founded March 2019 Black Girls Skate (BGS) is a growing non-profit devoted to creating equity, visibility and safety for skaters who identify as Womxn, Non-binary, Trans AND Black, African, or Of Color. They are specifically invested in amplifying skaters across the Black diaspora with skating styles that include skateboarding, longboarding, roller skating and ice skating. BGS currently operates as a social media and content curation resource with teammates & Partners throughout the US. Our programs seek to start dialogue and create meaningful content around skater visibility, safety and equity. Although open to all ages, their events target minority communities youth and young adults aged 18-30. They are unapologetically focusing their efforts on Black women, while supporting/promoting IPOC efforts/communities.

Bridge to Skate
Bridge to Skate uses skateboarding to transform the lives of youth by creating dynamic new paths to self-confidence, personal empowerment and responsibility for each other and their communities. They hope the youth take control of their lives, and use skateboarding as a vehicle for creative expression and a way of owning their own wheels. With ownership comes pride; with pride comes responsibility. And, with support comes a safe and secure organizational structure that enables kids to reach their full potential.

Boards 4 Bros
Boards 4 Bros wants to give ALL kids a chance to have their very own first skateboard. In 2006 at the Skatepark of Tampa, they started to collect and refurbish skateboards to distribute to youth who could not afford their own. In 2014, they became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization fully committed to providing equipment, safe skate spots and youth mentoring in our community. Additionally, their model empowers skateboarders to participate in community service as a donor, volunteer or project manager.

Chill is a positive youth development program where boardsports become a vehicle for empowerment. Revolving around a core value-driven curriculum, Chill programs consist of experiential learning activities, reflection, and discussion, paired with boardsport lessons. Chill’s six core values provide youth with a foundation and framework for learning and growth, supported and enhanced through on-board progression and adult mentorship. Chill removes all barriers to accessing boardsports by providing youth with everything they need to get after it, at absolutely no cost. froSkate exists to provide inclusive experiences, resources, and equity for the BIPOC, non-traditional skateboarding community. Black Womyn found and Queer led, they are Chicago’s first collective for the non-traditional skate community. Deeply rooted in skate culture, Make Life Skate Life seeks to nurture grassroots skate communities. Since 2013, they have constructed 10 skateparks that have positively impacted the lives of thousands in communities that can’t access these opportunities. After construction of skateparks, they help with the implementation of skate programs that aim to include females, disadvantaged and refugee youth, and use skateboarding as a tool for teaching cross-cultural communication, creative self expression and resilience to underserved youth populations. The goal is that their local partners take full ownership and independently run the projects in the long-term while acquiring enough skills to lead their next projects.

In 2005, while still living in Brazil, Vinicius “Vina” Tinoco was inspired by a friend who ran a skateboarding program aimed at helping kids at a juvenile detention facility realize they could recover from their mistakes. When he moved to California the following year, he carried with him the belief that there are some life lessons best learned on a skateboard. Determined to bring that same hope of a better life to kids in Anaheim, Vina founded Next Up Foundation in 2009 and began hosting skateboarding programs at a local skate park. Now, eight years later, they continue to serve a growing group of elementary and middle school kids through our mentorship, academic support, and wellness programs at our facility and skate park in Anaheim.

The Skatepark Project
Since 2002 The Skatepark Project has been fulfilling its mission to help young people by issuing grants to low-income communities building quality public skateparks, and providing guidance to city officials, parents, and children through the process. The Skatepark Project has been working with municipalities and community groups to help them realize their dream of a quality public skatepark in their community. For Tony Hawk, the organization’s Founder, skateboarding was a healthy outlet and a recreational challenge, and it provided a social group of creative, like-minded individuals. It’s also a sport that helped him build confidence, taught him to persevere, and through his mentoring of younger skaters helped him develop leadership skills. The Skatepark Project works every day to be able to bring these same lessons to youth around the world.

Skateistan host skate lessons for chidren in towns across Afghanistan and Jordan. They opened their first school oin 2009. Afganistan has the highest number of women skateboarders in the world. They want to rebuild, to expand and take the joy of skateboarding further afield. Their aim is to expand to 20 locations over the next year, and reach 4,500 students each week.
